Here's one that I would not have expected: a rock radio station doing emergency coverage...and doing it well! It's KTYD-FM Santa Barbara, living up to its FCC license by dropping programming and doing some really good work. Kudos to Rincon Broadcasting and its crew. Check the stream at ktyd.com.
By the way -- as a broadcaster, I join a team of management and operations personnel in annual, and sometimes semi-annual, emergency preparedness meetings. These drills include discussions, scenarios, and a written plan. My employers have a very good plan in place, should something happen locally...either to our facilities or our community.
