Red Sox star Dustin Pedroia, whose comments about his hometown of Woodland, CA have drawn criticism for him and threats against his family, now says he "didn't mean it." Pedroia, speaking at the weekend to two regional newspapers, suggested that his disparaging remarks were taken out of context because he was joking when he manured Woodland in Boston Magazine.
There's just something disingenuous about this. On KHTK Sunday, Mark Demsky noted -- and I agree -- that as many interviews as a Rookie Of The Year and World Series winner has to give, you would think that person would know better than to slag ANYONE and not think it wouldn't get back to the folks back home. Woodland may be rural, but they've got electricity, indoor plubming, and a lot of pride.
